Waiting for Winter
I don’t know about where you live, but here in the middle of Illinois we are seeing very early signs of Autumn, even as I write this in September. As I look out our front window, the Linden Oak is dropping its leaves (already dried and brown) at a steady pace. Do the squirrels usually start “rat packing” this early?
What makes it all very odd is that our humidity is still high, so it feels like the combined seasons of Summer/Fall or “SumFal.”
Now that we have actually hit October, it won’t magically feel like Fall even now. Why my pursuit of Fall? Because it is followed by winter, my favorite season. I think one of the first signs of aging for me will be when I dread winter.
Yes, at 61, I’m still waiting for signs of aging. Sure, I have some gray in my hair and those little vertical lines above my upper lip (which are noticeably pronounced when I am not getting enough sleep). But overall, I feel very good.
How are you feeling these days? What a question, right? It makes me think of the letters I would write as a kid. They always started with, “Dear_____, How are you? I am fine.”
Was I fine?
Are you fine?
If not, why not?
If not, what are you going to do about it? As I age, a lot of the things my mom used to say start popping up in my memory/mind. Like this one.
“Don’t just sit there like a lump on a log.” Honestly, I find that hilarious. But in all seriousness, I’m speaking to you.
“Don’t just sit there. Do something!” If you can’t think of a single thing to do, then I have some suggestions:
Get out for a walk
Moisturize your face (and your whole body, for that matter).
Drink water
Eat bright colored foods (think berries)
Laugh
Laugh some more
Intermittent Fast
That’s it. A short list. It’s not overwhelming. Certainly, you can do those 7 things. Ok, how about just one?

Update- I had a great time with the 9 women who participated in the Dry Run for the 5 Day Cleanse! They were fun, interactive and astute. They found all the errors I made and pointed them out to me with grace. And I’m certain they all benefited from this comprehensive program. Thanks to them, you can step confidently into Your 5 Day Cleanse in January 2025 (1/5-1/9). I’ll keep you posted on where and when to sign up. You won’t want to miss it!
